Excellence

"Through our doors walk the world's best students!"

West Central Intermediate School is a community reflecting the belief that every individual is a major contributor to our success.

West Central Elementary School opened as a K4-6 school in 1975.  Hugh L. Clearman was president of the HISD Board of Trustees and Roy Hartman was the Superintendent.  In 1980, West Central became an intermediate school with 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.  In 2001, the sixth grade moved to Hereford Junior High and we became a 4th and 5th grade campus.

Bill McCarley served as West Central's first principal from 1975-1977.  Other West Central principals include: Robert Ray: 1977-1987, George Ochs: 1987-1998, Steve Hudson: 1998-1999, Stacey Bixler: 1999- 2003,  Sara Gallagher:  2003-2006.  Mrs. Cuca Salinas is the new principal at West Central.  She was previously the principal of Bluebonnet Intermediate.

May 10, 1996 was declared West Central School Day, in honor of its 20 year anniversary, by Robert D. (Bob) Josserand, Mayor of the City of Hereford.
