The Herd Golf and Lady Whiteface Golf teams opened their seasons with a strong showing at the Hereford Invitational, giving both teams plenty to be excited about as they look ahead to the year.
The Lady Whitefaces took the course on day one and showed just how much progress the program continues to make. Several golfers recorded personal bests, highlighted by Zoe Cisneros, who fired an impressive 89. Her round marked the first time in several years that a Hereford girls golfer has posted a score in the 80s. Claire Nielsen was not far behind, turning in a strong 95 to help lead the Lady Whitefaces to a fourth place team finish.
The Herd Golf team followed on day two and continued the strong start for Hereford. Corey Mendoza shot a 78, while Kyler Stow finished with a 79, two impressive rounds that helped the Herd secure a third place finish overall.
Beyond the team finishes, the tournament provided another look at the growth taking place throughout the Hereford golf program. Scores continue to improve from a year ago, personal bests are being broken and both teams are becoming increasingly competitive each time they step onto the course.
With the first tournament now in the books, Herd Golf has plenty of momentum to build on. If the opening rounds are any indication, there is a lot to look forward to from both the Herd and Lady Whiteface golf teams this season.
Great start, Herd Golf!
